“When you stand up to speak, you mind sits down” is a situation I have often faced in my two decades of corporate life.
As a responsible leader, I often had to to deliver a motivational speech to my team or share industry perspective to the media.
How I had wished that the nerves that engulfed me would vanish with some mantra.
As is the bane of most education, our education teaches us to think, research and apply but seldom to present, speak and lead.
Then Toastmasters happened.
A learn-by-doing workshop in which participants improve their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure environment.
A learning laboratory transforming the individual’s potential into tangible skills & enhanced self-confidence. Another essential skill is listening patiently which is a very useful tool to resolve conflicts.
Soon I realised that this metamorphosis had a ripple effect in other areas of my life which effected in my workplace, community and family.
I have always believed that every human been has immense potential.
The difference is each individual is not aware of the potential that is trapped within us, buried in our inhibitions, fears and lack of self confidence.
Toastmasters is one such platform which enables to know it and unlock it.
Essentially after all these years, Toastmasters helped me find my VOICE.
