‘Pongal O Pongal’ was the phrase that rang through the meeting as we welcomed the Spring Season with energy, enthusiasm & excitement.
The theme for the meeting was ‘Pongal O Pongal’ and the word of the day Tantamount.
SAA Toastmaster Annie took center stage with confidence and shared a beautiful story about how Abraham Lincoln went from humble beginnings to becoming one of the greatest presidents of America.
Her address concluded with the message that the resolution to succeed is important and if you had the resolve, the job is already half-done.
Club President Toastmaster Shashidhar Hegde impressed us with an inspiring tale about Natarajan Chandrasekaran, the new chairman of Tata Sons & how his success can be attributed to the way he thinks.
And he drew a parallel to Toastmasters, and how we think different and bring the best out of ourselves.
His energy & magnanimous stage presence made the tale even more interesting.
Toastmaster of the Day Srivatsanathan Swaminathan took center stage with his calm, confident demeanor and unveiled the mystery behind the Pongal Festival.
In addition, he laced humor into his introductions beautifully by calling our speakers Chakra Pongal, Ven Pongal & Sugarcane.
A CC2 speech by Toastmaster Shruthi drove home the point that we need to teach children the importance of money, and offer them practical opportunities to use money and learn from them wisely.
Then we had a CC8 speech by Toastmaster Anindita.
A champion at humor, Anindita took something as mundane and simple as ‘Table Salt’ and turned it into a ‘White Beauty’ that we all can’t have enough of.
Seasoned Toastmaster Prakash Francis delivered his ACS7, a keynote address with pomp & flair.
With 2 enchanting real-life stories, he revealed the secret to achieving our New Year resolutions by making use of the pleasure & pain principle.
Toastmaster Feba Peter took center stage as the Table Topics Master & provided an informative & educational session on the importance of practicing in a Table Topic and how life in itself is a Table Topic.
Her calming presence encouraged 4 guests to take center stage & present a speech on various topics.
General Evaluator Jane Placid took over the proceedings with high energy & provided a brief but comprehensive evaluation on the meeting and what we can do to improve our club.
She was well-supported by Timer Anu, Grammarian Neelesh Singh & Aah Counter Ajith.
In addition, individual evaluators Toastmaster Muzib (for Shruti’s speech), Toastmaster Harry (for Anindita’s speech) and Toastmaster George (for Prakash’s speech) gave us constructive feedback points for the speakers to improve on.
Overall, with almost 30 attendees and 5 plus guests, the 198th Meeting of Talkmagic Toastmasters was a full paisa vasool.
