We are pleased to announce Talkmagic’s International Speech Contest 2017 – ABRACADABRA.
 
At ABRACADABRA, the finest oratory skills of our Talkmagicians will be on display.
 
Get ready to be enthralled by the contestants participating in the International Speech & Table Topics contest.
 
The Contest will begin by 3 PM.
 
If you’re a role player or a participant, we request you to be at the venue by 2:30 PM.

Talkmagic Toastmasters – Club Meeting No. 205 (04/03/2017)

The meeting was a pre contest held to enable members get ready for the actual club level contest to be held on 18.3.2017.
The atmosphere was a bit tense feeling like pre boards.
Specially keeping sync with the venue :‘ St.Vincent Palloti College ‘
To add to the tense atmosphere was the change of the familiar regular classroom to an alien 1st floor classroom.

The pre contest started with the energetic opening address by SAA TM Annie

The pre contest was chaired by TM Srivatsan. His professionalism was evident in his superb handling of the show.
The first session was for the prepared speeches showcasing the 3 contestants :
  • TM Sharanya
  • TM Anindita
  • TM Jane
This was followed by the Table Topic Session  which had higher participation.
The topic given was, ‘It’s better to be feared than loved’
Participants were:
TM Shruti, TM Muzib, TM Jane, TM Sharanya, TM Anindita and TM Anu.
Finally the results were announced by the Chief Judge TM Geetha.
And the winner for both both Prepared speech and Table Topics precontest was Toastmaster Anindita (Lady Shakespeare).

P.S.- The interview session conducted by Contest Chair in between the sessions was great.

The topic for the TT session was similar to my mental condition. I love all my fellow talkmagicians but am a bit scared of some which prevented me from dropping out of the contest.
Thanks to Srivatsan for continuous follow ups. And to the veterans without whose guidance we would be stagnant.
Last but not the least the cherry on the cake was the impromptu birthday party thrown by Prakash.
Actually the yummy cake is all that we remember.

Talkmagic Toastmasters – Club Outing 2017

Dear Friends,

On the 26th of February 2017, members of Talkmagic Toastmasters went on a special outing to the Gold Finch Resort near Bengaluru International Airport to bond, laugh & rejoice.

Most members of Talkmagic attended the outing along with their families.

We conducted a lot of games, relished a grand buffet breakfast and lunch and brought out our ‘inner child’.

Talkmagic Toastmasters – Club Meeting No. 201 (05/02/2017)

The theme was: ‘Succeed with a presence of mind’.

WOD – Alacrity. (cheerful readiness )

The meeting started with the enthusiastic greetings by ASAA TM Sharanya

This was followed by the inspirational Presidential address by VP Edu. TM Baburaj, recalling the sweat and tears behind the legendary Sylvester Stallone.

The TMOD introduced beautifully as an honest person TM Muzib took the stage.

He explained the history of Toastmasters and the format of the usual meetings.

GE TM Anindita was asked to explain the evaluation session.

GE Anindita introduced the TAG team.

Ah counter : TM Feba
Grammarian: TM Sunil

The stage was taken by TMOD Muzib who wonderfully introduced the prepared speeches section.

1. CC04 by TMOD TM Annie evaluated by TM Theju.

2. ACB by TM Prakash evaluated by Panellists:
TM Dr. Chaya.
TM George.

The surprise element was TM Nirmalya’s Educational Session.

This was followed by a spectacular show hosted by TTM TM Ramesh. The table topics turned the tables on everyone.

Then came the GE’s evaluation session.

After the individual evaluations and TAG team report, the second surprise came in the form of Listener TM Jane.

Audience participation was over enthusiastic. So much so that Jane declared all as disqualified.

The meeting ended with the distribution of prizes by TM Baburaj and also his concluding address.

Talkmagic Toastmasters – Club Meeting No. 200 (28/01/2017)

The countdown had begun since word went round that Talkmagic Toastmasters Club were planning a gala show.

The theme decided was: ‘We didn’t come this far to only come this far.’

WOD – ‘Exuberant ‘

What a wonderfully decorated venue courtesy our versatile ASAA TM Sharanya.

The milestone meet commenced at 3:05pm by ASAA TM Sharanya .

Then Talkmagic ‘s dynamic President Shashidhar gave his inspiring footballer tale to add to the  exuberant  spirit⚽.

The stage was then taken by our wonderful, steadfast TMOD TM Jane

She took us down the nostalgic journey of the  struggles of the founders of Talkmagic Toastmasters. A lively quiz in between about Toastmasters International spuced up the show.

She introduced the GE of the  meeting evergreen, illustrious DTM Geetha Prasanna.

GE DTM Geetha explained the GE’s role and called upon her TAG Team.

TMOD started the prepared speech section :

1.CC05 by TM Srivatsan evaluated by TM Neelesh

A wonderful step by step  guide to  befriend strangers.

2.ACB P2 by TM Theju evaluated by panellists

TM Prakash,TM Sunil and TM Mathew.

A captivating storytelling session.

Then came the educational session conducted by the veteran TM Dirish Mohan.

Lots of tips for aspiring  contestants for the international speech contest.

Then came the hilarious TTM TM Anish with his role plays termed ‘Improv’.

Participants were put through routines that made people overtly  exuberant.  ..

TMOD Jane called upon the GE DTM Geetha to evaluate the  meeting.

After the individual evaluators, she asked her TAG Team to give their reports. Listener Baburaj had a quiz to check attentiveness but the married women didn’t get the .

The best part was the GE’s  individual observations which took the evaluation to another level.

Finally TMOD handed over the meeting to President Shashidhar who in the true spirit of celebrations gave away the prizes and concluded Talkmagic’smilestone 200th meeting

The party continued under the Bodhi Tree with yummy snacks.
