Theme- Happy April Fool’s Day.

The meeting started with SAA TM Annie’s fable about ‘The crow and the fox’ which showed that we could be made a fool if we don’t carry our wits around. 😄

The President TM Shashidhar then gave his address filled with wit and humour. 😆 After extending a warm welcome to members and guests he philosophically commented that making a fool of oneself is the stepping stone to success. 🏆

He introduced the TMOD Jagdeep wonderfully in keeping with the theme of April Fools.😉

The stage was then taken over by the debutante TMOD TM Jagdeep. His hilarious setting with his first crush👩🏻 brought the house down with laughter. 😅😂

The GE TM Jane then gave a brief about the evaluation session and introduced the TAG Team📋:

Timer- TM Roy⏱
Ah counter- TM Parthiban ✋
Grammarian – TM Sharanya📖

The Prepared Speech Section saw double dhamaka🎆

1. CC5 by TM Ramesh evaluated by TM Anindita
2.ACB 8 by TM Sunil evaluated by TM Theju.
Then came the crackling Table Topic Session hosted by another debutante TM Ajith🎇

The evaluation session followed with in depth feedback given by the TAG Team and evaluators under the able guidance of GE TM Jane.👮‍♀

The meeting concluded with President Shashidhar’s closing remarks and prize distribution. 🏅

P.S.- The meeting showed some members in a totally different avatar. 😃

TMOD TM Jagdeep ‘s sense of humour. 😂

TM Ramesh’s attempts at cracking the driving tests were hilarious. 😅

TTM TM Ajith’s choice of topics. 😆

Last but not the least TM George ‘s impromptu acting during Sunil’s speech would give many actors a run for their money. 😎😀

(Reminded me of his acting out Rajnikanth’s dialogues 😊)

Meeting No – 207 – Club level International Speech and Table Topics Contest

‘ABRACADABRA’

The meeting opened with the SAA TM Annie’s magical address. Her story about the deaf , winner frog set the tone of the contest.

It emphasised that inner belief is stronger than outer noise.
With that inner confidence the contest chair, TM Anu took over.
The contest chair read out the rules and regulations of the contest as prescribed by Toastmasters International.
The first section was the international speech contest.
The participants were TM Anindita, TM Theju, TM Prakash, TM Sunil, TM Mathew and TM Baburaj.
Each speech stood out by their sheer brilliance and enchanting execution.
The next section was devoted to the Table topic contest. With so many participants, it almost seemed like a party.
The participants in this category included; TM Mathew, TM Parthiban , TM Prakash , TM Sunil , TM Muzib , TM Sharanya, TM Shashidhar , TM Anindita, TM Feba , TM Jane , TM Srivatsan , TM Raghuram and TM Chandrasekar.
While the Chief Judge was deciding on the verdict Contest chair TM Anu held a mock table topic session.
It was hilarious to get to know the true feelings of the contestants.
The meeting then concluded with President Shashidhar ‘s address and distribution of prizes.

The winners were:
For Table Topics Contest:

1.TM Sharanya
2.TM Matthew
3.TM Raghuram

For International Speech Contest :
1.TM Anindita
2.TM Theju
3.TM Baburaj

The celebrations continued under the bodhi tree with delicious sandwiches and fruit drinks, courtesy – TM Annie
P.S.- ABRACADABRA’ owes it’s success to a lot of people, some of whom worked relentlessly behind the scenes.
The Chief Judge DTM Geetha , whose guidance and judgement gave a new sheen to the contest.
Contest Chair TM Anu , whose dedication and beautiful smile made the contest even more charming.
TM Jane , who worked non stop behind the scenes to make others relax and enjoy.
The different role players , who did an excellent job.
The huge number of participants who came to take part in the magic.
The best part was the easy camaraderie between the members which made the whole event seem like a magic fest with each weaving their own spell
We sorely missed Neelesh , Harry , Shruti and other magicians of Talkmagic.

Talkmagic Toastmasters Club Meeting 206 – (12/02/17)

March 28, 2017 by Harry Ramsay Leave a Comment

Theme of the meeting was ‘Strong Women Strong World ‘
WOD -‘ Nonchalant ‘

The meeting opened with the strong address by SAA TM Annie.
President TM Shashidhar in his address referred to the iconic Para Olympic sports woman, Deepa Malik.
TMOD TM Theju continued the theme by comparing women with trees
Her reference to the struggles of women to get into Toastmasters showed that women never had it easy.
GE TM Anu gave the men some thing to rejoice by referring to Men’s Day.
However as behind every successful man lies the hand of a woman, so here too behind the strong women we had the
support of the men in the individual evaluations and TAG Team.

Timer – TM Raghuram
Ah Counter- TM Roy
Grammarian- TM Ramesh
Listener- TM Ajith.

The Prepared Speeches started with CC3 by TM Shruti titled ‘Be bold for change’,evaluated by TM Srivatsan.
The second speech was ACB2 P2 titled ‘Hakka Noodles ‘, by TM Neelesh, evaluated by TM Prakash.
The third speech came from the regal TM Sunil titled ‘His Master’sVoice’, fromAC B7, evaluated by TM George.
The Table Topic Session was conducted by another member of the Strong Women’s team TM Jane.
A little twist in the regular meeting routine was given by the PR Session conducted by VP PR TM Neelesh.
The evaluation session hosted by GE TM Anu saw the individual evaluators and TAG Team giving their feedback.
The TMOD handed over the stage to President TM Shashidhar for his concluding address and prize distribution.

Best speech – TM Sunil
Best table topic speaker – TM Sharanya
Best evaluator – TM Prakash.

The celebration of Strong Women continued under the bodhi tree.

P.S – TM Ramesh is really excelling in his grammarian role albeit nonchalantly.
TM Sharanya ‘s views about gossip is totally justified
because even though I was personally not present, I got all the news.
Last but not the least, Strong Women are really generous, as 2 men were given the 1st prize.
They make the world stronger nonchalantly.

Talkmagic Toastmasters Club Meeting 205 (04/03/17)

March 28, 2017 by Harry Ramsay Leave a Comment

The meeting was a pre contest held to enable members get ready for the actual club level contest to be held on 18.3.2017.
The atmosphere was a bit tense feeling like pre boards.

Specially keeping sync with the venue :’ St.Vincent Palloti College ‘

To add to the tense atmosphere was the change of the familiar regular classroom to an alien 1st floor classroom.

The pre contest started with the energetic opening address by SAA TM Annie

The pre contest was chaired by TM Srivatsan. His professionalism was evident in his superb handling of the show.

The first session was for the prepared speeches showcasing the 3 contestants :

* TM Sharanya
* TM Anindita
* TM Jane

This was followed by the Table Topic Session which had higher participation.

The topic given was, ‘It’s better to be feared than loved’

Participants were:
TM Shruti, TM Muzib, TM Jane, TM Sharanya, TM Anindita and TM Anu.

Finally the results were announced by the Chief Judge TM Geetha.

And the winner for both both Prepared speech and Table Topics precontest was Toastmaster Anindita (Lady Shakespeare).

Sincerely,
Talkmagic Toastmasters Ex-Com

P.S.- The interview session conducted by Contest Chair in between the sessions was great.
The topic for the TT session was similar to my mental condition. I love all my fellow talkmagicians but am a bit scared of some which prevented me from dropping out of the contest.

Thanks to Srivatsan for continuous follow ups. And to the veterans without whose guidance we would be stagnant.

Last but not the least the cherry on the cake was the impromptu birthday party thrown by Prakash.

Actually the yummy cake is all that we remember.
