Talkmagic Toastmasters – Club Meeting No. 197 (07/01/2017)

January 10, 2017 by Harry Ramsay Leave a Comment

First meeting of the year 2017 began with a bang.

The theme for the meeting was Explorations and the word of the day Neurogenesis.

Harry Ramsay drove home the message that we needed to explore and explore new places often… So we can be fresh, lively and young always.

A CC2 speech from our member Feba Peter drove home the fact that we needed to respect and appreciate a third gender amongst us – the transgenders.

… Which was followed by an entertaining Table Topics Session from Srivatsanathan Swaminathan who took us from “Poor Health Is In The Mind” to Nicknames featuring “Boo Boo” and finally “Plans for the future of our world”.

As usual, Toastmaster Saleem as the general evaluator owned the stage with his calm, confident poise and drove home the points that we needed to improve on with help from Speech Evaluator Theju, Grammarian Ramesh Anand, Ah Counter Anindita & Timer Veera.

We also had the induction with a new executive committee being formed under the presence of area director Thangamma Kalappa Karthamada.

Immediate Past President George Johnson passed on his leadership role to his successor Shashidhar Hegde who took centre stage and inspired us with his tale of how Toastmasters has helped him outgrow from a shy chartered accountant who avoided promotions so he didn’t have to socialize to someone who leads from the front and runs teams all over the world.

Kudos to Toastmasters, District 92 and Talkmagic Toastmasters!

Keep going!

Sincerely,

Talkmagic Toastmasters PR Team
