Talkmagic Toastmasters – Club Meeting 225 (22/07/2017)

July 25, 2017 by Harry Ramsay Leave a Comment

Theme : Being a lefty in a right handedworld

WOD : ‘Adept‘ meaning skillful

225th meeting was amazing and an adept meeting with a lot of mind blowing people  , 👫,  ,  ,  out there who made it so cool

It began with the SAA, TM Jeyabalan  inspiring the audience with his neatly woven story and setting the energy to the magnificent 225th meeting

Then entered the President TM Baburajan   with his amazing heuristic story as he always does. (Baburaj is a storehouse of inspirational stories 📚& he his an inspiration himself to all of us) to set the mood high  and to take the meeting forward

Then entered the left hand lover of the day  TM Ramesh Anand  . Each time he enters the stage, he makes it a jaw dropping show.  The Rib-tickling examples he quoted were too good  especially the demo of  He just dropped his inhibitions, what a show by Ramesh Anand  truly inspiring

Following this was the prepared speech session – The clash of clans     ‘The CC6 clash’ between TM Sharanya and TM Nitin

1.TM Sharanya  evaluated by TM SunilRaghavan and mentored by TM Neelesh

2. TM Nitin  evaluated by TM Jane  and mentored by TM George

Following this was the education session for a change that changed the mindset of all of the people present there        . DTM Arjun Raj Urs  took over the stage with his life experience and told us to jump into the river of crocodiles
Which at first seemed scary 😰 and then he revealed that those were funny crocodiles-fellow toastmasters look into your eyes when you stand on the stage
But that leap is a must to enjoy the green pastures         on the other side and to move from fear  to fearlessness  His innumerable words of wisdom will always remain with us.

Following this was Evaluation by GE TM Anu the all-rounder  and her TAG team including Listener
1.Timer              –    TM Feba
2. Grammarian –   TM Annie
3. Ah counter    –   TM Nitesh
4. Listener         –   TM Vishwanath
The individual Evaluators TM Sunil and TM Jane gave constructive feedback for the speakers

This was Followed by again a nice quote and story by TM Ramesh to tell how biased the world is to the left handed people  in a very light and jovial manner he conveyed it to us.

The meeting concluded with TM Baburaj summarizing the meeting in short

The winners were declared after this. The winners were :
1. TM Sharanya – Best Speaker

2. TM Sunil Raghavan – Best Evaluator

The meeting ended with so much zeal and enthusiasm and was Followed by hot hot vadas, tea and coffee  under the tree with continuous chatter and discussions.

With this the 225th meeting concluded

Talkmagic Toastmasters – Club Meeting 211 (15/04/17)

April 28, 2017 by Harry Ramsay Leave a Comment

MOM Meeting No.211

Date – 15th April 2017

Theme- ‘The Earth is what we all have in common ‘

WOD-‘Salvage’

Meeting no.211 was unique in many ways.

Although the regular venue was out of bounds , the meeting was held in keeping with the theme amidst nature.

The meeting was opened beautifully by debutante acting SAA TM Feba.

President Shashidhar then took up the reins of the meeting.

Like always he extended a warm welcome to all and in all his sincerity explained the value of Toastmasters.

Then came the vibrant TMOD TM Shriniwas who brilliantly elaborated on this so relevant theme.

The GE TM Jane then took the stage to explain the evaluation process.

Her TAG team included the following toastmasters:

Timer: TM Roy⏱
Ah counter : TM Parthiban
Grammarian: TM Priya
Listener : TM Anu

Then started the electrifying prepared speeches section.⚡

1.CC10 TM Anindita evaluated by TM Neelesh.
2. ACB by TM Sunil evaluated by TM George.
3. ACS by TM Prakash evaluated by DTM Geetha.

The next section was the Table Topics Session handled beautifully by debutante TM Shruti , whose table topics were in sync with the theme.

Then came the detailed evaluation session handled by the GE TM Jane with inputs from the individual evaluators and the TAG Team.

The listener TM Anu then took the stage for a hilarious session which changed the most serious toastmasters into school kids.

The TMOD TM Shriniwas then concluded his session and handed over to President Shashidhar.

President Shashidhar in his closing address brilliantly harped upon each section of the meeting with wit and humour.
The meeting ended with prize distribution and snacks distribution.

P.S.- Although it was boiling outside, the meeting held in the badminton court saw enthusiastic participation.

Although there were some debutante role players, their poise and confidence shows what the guidance of seniors can do.

Although the TMOD had some tough moments declaring Jane as the encyclopedia, I think she deserves the moniker Janepedia.

Although there were many present we still missed others who couldn’t make it to this unique meeting.

Although my mentor Sunil didn’t give a milestone speech , he is a milestone in himself.

Although I had tried to forget about my CC10 speech thanks to the relentless reminders of Srivatsan that I had to make an appearance.

Finally although I couldn’t put on my lipstick before the photoshoot George relating me to Sharukh’s heroine Kajol flew me to 7th heaven.
